Website conversion checklist: 20 things to check before you buy more traffic
Sending more visitors to a site that leaks enquiries just costs more. Work through this list, or let SitePulse check most of it automatically in 10 seconds.

First screen
- The headline says what you do and for whom, not "Welcome".
- One primary call to action is visible without scrolling ("Book a free consultation", "Get a quote").
- The button text says what happens next. Avoid "Submit" and "Learn more".
- A phone number or contact link is in the header, and click-to-call works on mobile.
Trust
- 3–5 real testimonials with names, or links to independent reviews.
- A guarantee or risk-reversal near the call to action, if you offer one.
- An About page: who you are, where, since when.
- Privacy policy, terms and (for products) a refund/returns policy linked in the footer.
- A current copyright year and no placeholder text.
- HTTPS everywhere, with no "Not secure" warnings or mixed content.
Friction
- Contact forms ask for only what you need to reply. Fewer than 7 fields is a good target.
- Every form field has a visible label.
- Prices, or at least a "from $X", are findable.
- An FAQ answers the 5–8 questions people ask before buying.
- Navigation has no dead ends: no broken internal links.
Technical basics that affect conversion
- The mobile viewport is set, so the page isn't a shrunken desktop site.
- The HTML responds quickly (under ~1s) and the page isn't bloated with dozens of scripts.
- Each page has a unique, descriptive title and meta description, which drive click-through from search.
- An XML sitemap and robots.txt exist, and important pages aren't set to noindex.
- Structured data (Organization/LocalBusiness/Product) is present.
SitePulse checks items 1–4, 5 (wording), 7–13, 15–20 automatically and shows the evidence. Items 6 and 14 are flagged when no wording suggests them.
